Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, sometimes referred to as laughing gas, is a gas that is inhaled through a nasal mask.  Patients under nitrous oxide often report feeling relaxed, sleepy, or giddy throughout their treatment. Throughout your procedure, the amount of nitrous oxide administered is closely monitored to ensure you are safe and fully relaxed. Once the nasal mask is removed, the effects of nitrous oxide quickly dissipate. Patients can drive themselves home after their treatment.

Our team will determine if you are an ideal candidate for nitrous oxide. In most cases, patients can receive nitrous oxide as their form of sedation.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is administered in the form of a pill. We recommend patients take their prescribed sedative about an hour before the scheduled visit. Oral conscious sedation offers several benefits for patients with dental fear and anxiety, including:

  • Oral conscious sedation does not require the use of needles or shots
  • Patients remain relaxed and comfortable throughout their treatment
  • Patients can receive multiple treatments during one appointment

The effects of oral conscious sedation may take a while to diminish. Patients will need an escort to and from their dental appointment.
